Country Club Veterinary Hospital

I just moved back to Springfield I didn't know where I could take my pets. My daughter recommended this place and it is totally awesome. Day care so much about all the fur babies 😍

I brought my 16-year-old cat, Wedgie, to this clinic for euthanasia. I knew it would be one of the hardest days I've had as a pet owner, and I expected compassion. When I told Dr. Wilson that I wanted to stay with Wedgie during the procedure, I explained that I work in animal control and have witnessed euthanasia before. His response was, "Fine, but keep your mouth shut." After Wedgie passed, instead of allowing a quiet moment to grieve, he added, "And no, you haven't seen everything." Those comments were unnecessary and made an already heartbreaking experience far more painful. Regardless of any misunderstanding, I believe clients deserve to be treated with dignity and respect while saying goodbye to a beloved pet. It wasn't just the first comment that upset me—it was that he felt the need to have the last word after my cat had already passed. At that point, the focus should have been on allowing a grieving owner to say goodbye, not on making another remark. I held my tongue because my wife was in the waiting room, devastated, and I didn't want to make an already painful situation worse. Unfortunately, this interaction overshadowed what should have been a peaceful goodbye to a cat who had been part of our family for 16 years. The staff aside from this interaction were professional, but I cannot overlook how I was spoken to during one of the most difficult moments of my life. I hope the clinic takes this seriously so that no one else has a similar experience.

Dr. Wilson's demeanor and bedside Manor was horrible. This was one of the worst experiences a pet parent could ever experience, only to be made worse by the lack of professionalism and empathy exhibited today. We brought our 16-year-old cat to Country Club to cross the Rainbow bridge and while I had to leave the room my husband, who is an Animal Control Officer, was asked to leave the room when he insisted that he stayed to be there for our sweet dying pet, only to be yelled to "get out," and when he would not leave Dr Wilson said "fine. But keep your mouth shut." My husband explained that as an ACO he sees numerous experiences like this and "has seen everything," and would like to be there for our family cat during her last breath. He was shocked and floored that he was being spoken to like this, especially at such a vulnerable time. The nurses were informed ahead of time that my husband was an animal control officer and would be staying with our sweet cat, and it appears communication had broken down. When our cat finally passed, Dr. Wilson looked at my husband and said "No, you HAVEN'T seen everything." And walked out. As if to give one final got punched to my husband's already vulnerable state of mind Upon check out, the only thing anybody said to us was "that'll be $90." And "let me get you a receipt." No apologies for the loss of our family pet, no condolences, not even an "I'm so sorry." We will be pulling our Veterinary Care from Country Club Animal Hospital immediately, as well as filing a formal complaint with the Missouri Veterinary Care Board. This was one of the worst experiences a pet parent could ever experience, only to be made worse by the lack of professionalism and empathy exhibited today.
